The Fundamentals of WordPress Maintenance
Your WordPress website needs ongoing maintenance to perform its best. And while it’s not difficult to perform basic maintenance, many business owners are busy and find it difficult to update their sites themselves.

Maintenance Item 1:
Update Plugins and Themes
Plugins and Themes need to be updated regularly to increase security, fix bugs and potentially add new features.
Leaving an outdated plugin or theme on your site increases your risk of getting hacked and makes your site more likely to malfunction.
How I Help With Updates
I’ll update your site weekly or more frequently if I learn about plugin, theme or WordPress Core vulnerabilities that require immediate updating.
Maintenance Item 2:
Implement Automated Backups
Should anything go wrong on your site – from malware, a broken plugin or user error – a recent backup will be your saving grace.
With backups on hand, you’ll be able to quickly restore your site to working order, and troubleshoot what caused the problem.
How I Help With Backups
I’ll automatically back up your site daily* to secure remote storage. We’ll determine the appropriate number of backups to keep at a given time, but 30 are typical.
*If you don’t update your site often, we may decide to backup weekly or twice monthly.
Restoration Help
In the event that we need to restore a backup, I’ll offer 30 minutes of restoration help at no charge. Any time beyond 30 minutes will be billed at my current hourly rate.

Security
WordPress sites are vulnerable to malware, hacks, bots and other online threats. I’ll tighten up your website by employing a number of security measures. Security measures may include:
- Server-Level Firewall
- Brute Force Attack Prevention
- Enhanced Login Security
- Hiding or disabling common entry points for bad bots and hackers.

If your site goes down for any reason, I’ll be the first to know with automated uptime monitoring.
Performance Monitoring
I’ll keep an eye on your site’s load time to make sure there are no unexpected changes.
Database Cleaning
I’ll clear out any unneeded crud to keep your database clear and running fast. Monthly or quarterly depending on need.

At only $25 per month, I can’t take the time to review your site for problems after an update. If you discover an issue with your site, I offer 30 minutes of free restoration work and charge hourly beyond that.
